How do I fix an Android keyboard that won't show?

Steps to check

1. Restart the phone

   A stuck input method often clears after a restart. Open a messaging app afterward to test.

2. Check default keyboard

   Settings → System → Languages & input → On-screen keyboard (wording varies). Enable Gboard or your OEM keyboard and set it as default.

3. Clear Gboard cache

   Settings → Apps → Gboard → Storage → Clear cache. Avoid Clear data unless you're okay losing dictionary customizations.

   If the keyboard app was disabled, enable it. Reinstall from Play Store only after the steps above.
