How do I change the font on my Android phone?

On a Samsung Galaxy, open Settings, tap Display, then Font size and style, then Font style, and pick a font. Tap Download fonts for more choices. Many other Android phones, including Pixel, let you change only the text size and turn on bold text, under Settings, then Accessibility, then Display size and text.
Steps to check
Samsung: pick a new font style
Open Settings and tap Display. Tap Font size and style, then tap Font style. Tap a font to use it. The change applies across the phone straight away, and you can switch back the same way.
Samsung: download more fonts
In the Font style screen, tap Download fonts. The Galaxy Store opens. Tap the install button next to a font you like. Downloading uses data, so Wi-Fi is a good idea. Once it has installed, go back to Font style and tap the new font to use it.
Pixel and other phones: change size and boldness
Open Settings and search for Font size, or tap Accessibility, then Display size and text. Move the Font size slider to make text larger or smaller. Turn on Bold text to make letters thicker and easier to read. If you do not see a Font style option on your phone, it may not offer a choice of fonts.
Make text stand out more
If the font is fine but hard to see, you can add an outline to text. On Pixel and other phones with Android 16, go to Settings, Accessibility, Display size and text, and turn on Outline text. On older versions, look for High contrast text. On Samsung, go to Settings, Accessibility, Vision enhancements, and turn on High contrast fonts.
Normal vs. not
Usually normal
Some apps keeping their own look after you change the font. Not every app follows the phone's font or bold setting.
Worth a closer look
Text suddenly looking very different when you did not change anything. A theme you downloaded can bring its own font, so check the themes you have applied in Settings.
