Samsung Galaxy S2 Questions – Firmware, Rooting, Backup

My phone is Samsung Galaxy S2 with 2.3.3 version and DDKE4 as the baseband.

After being facinated with this website, I updated my phone to version 2.3.4 with KG6 baseband. Recently there’s another baseband named XXH3. Any idea whether the XX series is latest?

Few question that I have after udpate. It would be helpful if I get it answered:

1. After upgrading & rooting my KG6 (2.3.4), I am getting a big ugly yellow exclamation mark while booting. Tried every process, and its not going. Can we get a fix for this?

2. I have AppMonster Pro version, and after this update/root, it does not display my external SD card and its size.

3. It was said that 2.3.4 has Google Video, and I do not have it.

4. What’s the main difference between 2.3.3 & 2.3.4 apart from speed. I am not finding any new apps (except Music Hub, and that too doesnt work in India it seems).

5. Lastly, if I want to go back to my factory default and wait for Samsung to officialy release via Kies, can I roll back anyways to default factory version and baseband?

Please let me know its answers.

I would like to thank Neal Pradeep who is really helping us in getting our androids in a well simplistic ways in description and video. Much appreciated!!!

Thank you very much.

For going back to factory default setting you just have to download the Official firmware for your mobile and the flash it. However it will remove the root.

I think no one answers here :(

I couldnt locate my original firmware stock that came with my S-II. It was DDKE4 with 2.3.3 android version.

It would be helpful if this firmware can be pointed out to me from where I can download and update. I want to go to factory default, and there are no ways to go. Feel bad!

Anyways, temporarily I have opted for 2.3.4 KH3 as displayed in Androidadvices.com site. It was helpful, and I have flashed to this updated version. But bad thing is, its not detecting in my Kies. And this KH3 version is not having google video talk too as advertised.

Not quite sure if this will help, but worth to have a look at these two links below, I found them both are very helpful and I did update firmware on my SII from them.

Ans : have you tried clearing everything as mentioned in the article from the recovery mode?

    2. I have AppMonster Pro version, and after this update/root, it does not display my external SD card and its size.
And: its an APP ISSUE AS IT DOESNT SUPPORT NEW FIRMWARE VERSION!

    3. It was said that 2.3.4 has Google Video, and I do not have it.
aNS : This version is not having the Google Video Chat!

    4. What’s the main difference between 2.3.3 & 2.3.4 apart from speed. I am not finding any new apps (except Music Hub, and that too doesnt work in India it seems).

Ans: In India still these apps are not launched by Samsung, as in when it gets launched, it will be pushed to your phone!

    5. Lastly, if I want to go back to my factory default and wait for Samsung to officialy release via Kies, can I roll back anyways to default factory version and baseband?

Ans: yes you can go back to your last version but not from kies but from Odin its possible!!!!
